Join host Robert Forto as he welcomes musher, Della Severtson to Mushing Radio.

I currently handle for Rick Casillo and Battle Dawgs Racing in Big Lake. I came to the kennel April of 2016. There are currently 38 dogs in the kennel. The kennel is a long distance racing kennel. Rick has run the Iditarod for several years. He and his wife are the founders of Battle Dawgs, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting combat veterans who are recovering from traumatic brain injuries, amputations and/or post traumatic stress.
I was raised in northern Minnesota and spent a large portion of my adult life in the south between North Carolina and Texas. I have three adult daughters, a varied history of careers; licensing and marketing, EMS, truck driver, equipment operator, road crew, personal assistant, business owner, massage therapist, camp cook and packer…I have been blessed to have been afforded a lot of opportunities in my 49 years.
Things we discuss on this episode:
1. How did you get involved with dog mushing?
2. What races have you ran or plan on running in the future?
3. We talk about the life of a handler in a professional sled dog kennel
